Myotherapy can be applied in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of therapy to restore and maintain normal function of soft tissue structures of the body. The techniques used depend on the nature of the problem, but usually a combination of techniques such as massage / manual manipulation, dry needling (similar to acupuncture), and stretching are often used. Corrective exercises and home programs are usually prescribed in order to address the cause of the problem to avoid re-injury.
